2010 is over

Yes 2010 is over and the boat is out of the water for another season
The summer went fast and I only got one 3 day trip in but it sure was interesting
I hope my friends from NY enjoyed it
The all lines aft was great and it helped a lot by taking a large load off the arm
Im still working on some safety netting for the grandkids next year and some new toys on board would be nice but I still have not sold the Westerly and until that boat is gone all other projects are on hold

see you all next summer

A Long hot 2 weeks

Its been a long hot 2 weeks but we did get in one 4 day trip to Westport, Button Bay and then back home.
The pics are posted on Facebook
One of the nice things about this run is that i got to see the new crown point bridge pylons being set into the lake
As the time passes It would be nice to see a timeline for the new bridge

in the water

Sunday we put the boat in the water, and as usual I took control of the boat.

Yesterday I stepped the mast the old way because the master hinge pin did not line up properly and my flimsy gallows that i built for the mast did not look safe. This means that the mast step project will continue next fall because im not taking down the mast again for the adjustment.
Also the new pedestal guard that we installed now interferes with the shift linkage arm and throttle arm. The throttle arm has to be backed off and readjusted . This may sound easy but because of the cable location its not. The shift arm will have to be bent back about 20% to properly fit. This means heating and bending a 1`/2 inch ss rod ,not an easy function I may take it to my local machine shop and have them do it.I will post the final pics on the old shipyard

more updates

In the spring when you unpack the boat ,something always breaks, like the battery selector switch. Lucky I have a spare and while at it I also changed the blower circuit breaker switch, which never worked right after getting wet last year. The start of the mast step project is doing well. I do hope it works. see the old shipyard for pics. I also gave her a fresh bottom paint job with my last bit left over from last year. I'm impressed how long the paint lasts ,it doesn't dry out like most paints do so you can just add some thinner and all is fine again.
